Poem and Film
I filmed the visuals for this poem in Puebla, the “City of Angels.” The narrator is Popocatépetl (the Smoking Mountain), speaking to his eternal love, Iztaccíhuatl (the Sleeping Woman)—the iconic volcanoes that overlook the city.
The poem imagines one soul longing for the other, believing they can still connect in this mystical place.
